Day 1 : Sudipto Sen and Kerala

I know the title is written in poor taste, but let me give you a brief history about this guy named Sudipto Sen who directed the film "The Kerala Story".

This guy infamously said this. See below

The film's claim that "approximately 32,000 women" in the state were radicalised and coerced into joining the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has invited the wrath of the state's CPI(M) and Opposition Congress, who said "the movie was an attempt to destroy the communal harmony of the state" – and should be banned from screening in the state.

 Let's fact check, shall we?

Maximum arrests in ISIS-related cases (33) were made from Tamil Nadu followed by Uttar Pradesh (19), Kerala (17), Telangana (14), Maharashtra (12), Karnataka (8) and Delhi (7).

There were 17 people only those who were arrested. Now, you might ask me what about the ones who are missing? We will look into that as well,

Let us study missing women in Indian States using the Sex ratio and some interrelated social metrics to see if we can link the missing women to address gender disparities.

Kerala has 84 missing women, which is a high number I agree and look at UP, whose number stands on 88. Also, Tamil Nadu is at only 4... since the ISIS arrests seems to be the highest, looks like their police works hard to bring people and arrest them for their punishments. Haryana has 121 women missing, wonder why the same.

Anyway, my point being that it was not necessary at all to put Kerala under a spotlight and mud-sling the entire state just because 4 women joined ISIS. Good job shaming an entire state just because you are angry at the communal harmony between different religions over there.

Movies he directed

Sudipto Sen made his directorial debut with a movie called The Last Monk, which was based on a woman who came from a line of elite people and eventually joins Buddhism and moves to Ladakh for a life of peace and tranquility.

Looks like he is fine with Buddhism.

Other movies directed by Sudipto Sen are Lucknow Times, Gurujana, and In The Name Of Love.

One movie caught my attention over here. "In the Name of Love" and decided to read it's plot on IMDB.

As per a recent report, since 2009 - more than 17 thousand girls from Kerala and more 15 thousand girls from Mangalore from Hindu and Christian communities has been converted to Islam and most of them ended up landing in Syria, Afghanistan and other ISIS and Taliban influential areas.

Great, so another Kerala story then?

 Communal Harmony in Kerala

There were no cow vigilantes on the streets, no bulldozers razing minority properties, no attacks on mosques, madrasas and churches, no disruption of namaz prayers, and no cries to ban hijab, halal, and beef. This was in sharp contrast to the states like Uttar Pradesh where chief minister Yogi Adityananth had ordered the removal of loudspeakers from all religious places.

Consider The Kerala Story, the fictional film which left a trail of death and destruction, including in places like Akola, Ahmednagar, and Jammu.

 But Kerala remained calm.

No one here found any need for protests, for or against the screening of the film. They seemed to have dismissed it as fiction.

It's upto you to consider whether Kerala story is a documentary on how ISIS recruits girls over there or a film that twists facts to promote hatred against a religion or a state.
