My father was right about all the harsh advices he gave me

Image
My father was right about everything... From transactional relationships being purely one-sided to you being treated merely like a resource in the workplace... to being solely a bank account to the universities, landlords, real estate agents and property managers etc..  Image  A person using a mask to portray themselves as kind, caring person while harbouring a cunning, calculating face underneath it To the vanity obsessed people using people who criticise them as props to their goals, or actively side lining them because of their inability to take it.  To the optical lens people who are hung up on how they are perceived by the people around them,  To the perception obsessed people by how they expose no flaws or gaps in their image because of their lack of authenticity..  They escape accountability by doing constant publicity..  They think of themselves as superior and smart and above everything else, that what they do is way more valuable than what e...

The casual job spectrum I went through and struggle to keep

1) Door to door knocking job to collect surveys from each house - got kicked out due to not collecting enough surveys in a day in the given amount of time.  2) Mobile Repairing job - lost it due to not being able to repair mobiles fast enough 3) Door to door knocking sales job - give VEU products for free and will be paid according to the product fitted in the customer's house - left due to non payment.  4) Casual Waitstaff/bartender at Melbourne Racing Club - barely got any shifts - did a barista training, sent them a certificate and now working a few shifts as a barista there. 5) Did one delivery on a borrowed bicycle as a DoorDasher, broke the bicycle and my legs - in a single day - didn't go there again  6) Got a chance to do a video regarding Gig Work with a team that shoots videos for advertising, training etc - once in a lifetime opportunity - got paid quite well.  7) Worked as a babysitter in the hospital overnight shifts - got fired due to eating their food....

When government going on "attack" mode on religion makes sense

So, let me find something in support of the government,  Conducting raids at 28 locations in Chennai, Coimbatore and other places in connection with Paul Dhinakaran's Christian missionary ‘Jesus Calls’.  So, why was this done? Because, well... Legal Rights Observatory (LRO) has alleged that Christian Priest Dr Paul Dhinakaran misused the foreign funds received under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). A blog which highly condemns Dr. Paul Dhinkaran and his activities like healing center and claims that he practically started the trend of mega-church globe-trotting televangelists in Tamil Nadu.

Getting references is half the problem, staying in the job is a real struggle

Australia is a reference based market.  One of my friends, Puthun, said they put people's hard copy resumes in the bin straight away since they didn't come through a reference.  Another girl working at Coles said if they aren't hiring, then even references don't work.  Also, Japanese restaurants hire Japanese people, Korean restaurants will hire their own nationality etc. Nothing personal, they are likely to understand their language, their way of cooking. doing things around the cafĂ© and be easier to work with the staff.  I got my first two jobs through reference but unfortunately, lost both of them, one of them, due to lack of meeting targets that were set for me and another one, I left since they postponed my payment every time I asked them when they were going to pay my salary.  I really admire people who get references, use it wisely and stay in the job no matter what, without getting kicked out, or leaving it voluntarily.  They are way better th...

Established Indians abroad "gatekeep" or exploit new workers of their own nationality

I recently went to The Big Meet and noticed all the companies that came there.  I visited some stalls over there but unfortunately, I was wary of meeting people who were of the same nationality as me, either naturalized citizens/PR or with working visas.  I met one of the guys who was at a stall for the Defence Company and realized after having a conversation with him that he turned into a citizen some 5–6 years back. His background lies in Mechanical Engineering, and he switched fields by joining this company.  When I asked him about the interview rounds, what kind of questions they asked him, and what did he study to go to this field, he refused to give anything away any information, mostly giving vague answers such as he learnt about defence, he applied for it and got the job.  He refused to tell me how many rounds happened, what exactly did he do to study and how he got his citizenship. It's the classic "Kicking away the ladder" or about how much hard he worked t...

Day 2 : Income Tax Raids and Surpressing Voices

Let's start with what you hate the most. India: The Modi Question is a 2023 two-part documentary series aired by BBC Two about the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his relationship with the Muslim minority in the country.  When was it released? Original release :17 January – 24 January 2023 The Income Tax department is conducting survey at the BBC office in Delhi and Mumbai, news agency ANI has reported citing sources on 14 February. Why was income tax raid done after the documentary was released? Also, it's banned from everywhere, rarely there's anyone who can access it, then why? You might say it's a coincidence or they deserved it.. Ok, let's see more then   Income Tax Raids on Celebs The residence of Bollywood filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl, actress Taapsee Pannu and others have been raided by the Income Tax department in Mumbai.  The reason is? Not something about how they have been doing this for so long, but obviously... "They ...

Day 1 : Sudipto Sen and Kerala

Image
I know the title is written in poor taste, but let me give you a brief history about this guy named Sudipto Sen who directed the film "The Kerala Story".  This guy infamously said this. See below The film's claim that "approximately 32,000 women" in the state were radicalised and coerced into joining the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has invited the wrath of the state's CPI(M) and Opposition Congress, who said "the movie was an attempt to destroy the communal harmony of the state" – and should be banned from screening in the state.  Let's fact check, shall we? Maximum arrests in ISIS-related cases (33) were made from Tamil Nadu followed by Uttar Pradesh (19), Kerala (17), Telangana (14), Maharashtra (12), Karnataka (8) and Delhi (7).  There were 17 people only those who were arrested. Now, you might ask me what about the ones who are missing? We will look into that as well,  Let us study missing women in Indian St...
