Two words with different meanings, sound the same

You might have noticed when you start reading a book, that authors usually avoid repeating the same word everywhere so that the reader doesn't find it repetitive. They describe the same thing in different ways like "catastrophic", "apocalypse", "eternal doom". They can either exaggerate or downplay the circumstances that has occurred by using such words in their stories.

To me, "memories" and "nostalgia" seem to mean the same for me.

As I grow up, My Birthday, a reminder of having lived a year more, I realize that most of the moments I have experienced are in the past now. So, whenever I find myself thinking about a particular person or a incident, it's very rare for it to be recent. Perhaps, reminiscing is also like daydreaming, a habit that I unconsciously developed and cannot quit. This isn't something I would have been able to do in my adolescence or teenage years since I was busy creating them, and excited to see what my future would be like.

Which words, mean the same to you, perhaps with meanings close together or being completely different from each other?
